The xs sizing was great for me (I'm 5'0 and wanted something which fit loosely enough for an insulation layer to fit underneath), and it feels impervious to even storm conditions. It doesn't pack down quick as lightly or thinly as my other rain shell, but it's not bad at alll in the regard; it will be a great shoulder-season rain shell, even hear in the northeast. The material inside is not a liner, it is laminated to the backside of jacket material, but it is slippery enough to stick to me like some other shells have. I also like the back flap: the button magnets which help it flip up to disappear double as a little weight to hold the flap in place when it is extended. But as others have noted, the ventillation through the pockets is an odd and frustrating design; for the price, I was surprised it did not have pit zips, instead, especially because it has such a multiplicty of zippers. I find myself unzipping the vents instead of the pockets by mistake. I also wish the sleeves opened wider for some ventillation when needed. When the velcro at the cuffs is undone it barely opens the sleeve at all.

I love this jacket. It has all the great features - vents, extended back flap to keep you dry, warm fleece at your neck and the fabric is even soft, not crinkly like most rain jackets.
This is my second time buying this product. I cycle in very wet climates and I use it!

Everything I could want in a women’s specific winter cycling jacket! I’m 5’4’’ and the XS fits great (I can fit a small down jacket underneath for the really cold days)!

This is by far the best rainjacket I have ever owned - and I grea up in the PNW! The shoulders are strong and keep me warm even in the harshest downpour. The butt flap stays put when I need it to with the magnets, and offers phenomenal protection while in use. There are interior zippered pockets in addition to the outer (also zip) pockets. Cayenne color is excellent for visibilty. Cycling through an intense hailstrom for hours, this jacket was perfect.

The only downside for me (as I cycle around Europe) is that this jacket does not fold down small at all. Worth it, as the upside of this is of course the wind barrier that is created by the jackets structural integrity.

I gave this as a gift to my daughter. She loved it!

I bought this jacket for hiking and cycling, and fell in love with the goldenrod colour. It fits well and I like the lining on the neck and the front vents that open to release body heat. I've worn it walking a couple of times in a light rain and I was dry at the end (I have the Transit pants, as well). The front vents kept me from overheating.

I look forward to trying it hiking in the next few weeks to see how it holds up and how the reinforced shoulders feel under a pack, but am very pleased with my Refuge Jacket so far.

On a different note, I originally ordered the wrong size and a different colour. The exchange process was exceptionally easy and I had my other jacket within a week of shipping it back to Showers Pass. Wonderful service!

Hi. I haven't had the chance to wear this outside yet but it looks like a well constructed, bright, (Cheyenne), waterproof, wind resistant jacket that should serve me well for an upcoming cycling tour. It's roomy enough to allow for several layers. The important part is that the shoulders and sleeves fit well. I bought a different Showers Pass jacket from MEC which I like as much, except that it doesn't have a hood. I will return that one because in a downpour, you really do need a hood that will go right over your helmet.
It is disappointing to see that the men's jacket that is priced the same has a chest pocket whereas the women's version does not.

My decision to go with the Shower's Pass Refuge jacket over other offerings was the long magnetic tail, zip vents (which are on the chest rather than armpits, more effective and also storm worthy as I quickly realized), and the bright colour (goldenrod) which does not scream "I'm a woman" if I am riding or camping solo. On the downside, the hood does not stay in place over my road helmet (maybe I need to play with the tightening toggles?), and does not have any sort of fastener to keep it held down when not in use, but will be great when off the bike eg camping or about town. Unlike the men's chest pocket which is accessed from an outside zipper, the women's model requires opening the main zipper to access the pocket from inside - a nuisance for a phone/camera

Love this jacket! I'm 5'11' 180lbs and the women's XL fit me perfectly. I can wear it on its own over a T-shirt or over several layers. It is adjustable to different conditions. It's light and moves with me. My new favourite jacket. Thank you!

First off, love the colour (cayenne). High-viz without looking like I'm construction crew. Haven't had to fully check the waterproofness yet, but performed well in light showers. Feels like it's very breathable. Detachable hood is awesome.
I was at high end of Medium fir sizing and got the Large so I could comfortably add warm layers (especially for breaks, camping, etc). Size guide feels pretty accurate.

I got my jacket somewhere in January. I wore it a couple of times during winter with a fleece under and it was great. I was not sweaty at all when I biked to work and cross country skiing was great. I was only waiting for the first rain before writing my review. Well, first rain arrived last week and after a 25 minutes ride, the water did not bead at all on my jacket at all on the sleeves? I thought it was a bit disappointing. Though I was not wet inside, I found it surprising for a new jacket that the DWR had already gone away before getting exposed to its first rain.

Besides that, the cut is great. I would have preferred it a tiny bit longer but it's still very flattering. I would have liked that the jacket could be zipped higher to really protect the neck when there is a lot of wind.

For size purpose, I am 5'2 and 95 pounds and the XP was perfect for me. I still have room for a fleece.

This is an awesome jacket...very well made, wind and water proof and highly visible. I purchased it because I thought it would be a very versatile jacket. The fabric is great and is waterproof indeed; issues are as follows- I suggest to add a venting zippered area under the armpits and I also suggest lengthening the back of the jacket more (add more bum coverage); also - me thinks there should be more than one kind of waterproof jacket - I mean include a lighter one that works when it's raining and very warm!

Im a letter carrier for the post office and its very hard at times to find gear that protects you from the elements.. this jacket does exactly what it says!! It has kept me completely dry. The vents are perfect, I didn't get hot or have built up condensation like I've experienced with every other brand rain jacket I've purchased.. I love the hood design. I still have my peripheral vision when I have the hood cinched and that is super important for me.. I love the color and over all make up this jacket. I've gotten quite a few compliments.. I will be purchasing another as a back up !! Thank you for making great products

I love this jacket!! It is true to fit. It's sturdy and yet attractive. I have the neon green color so I will stand out while riding. I would recommend this jacket to anyone that is an active outdoor rider.

I love the gear unfortunately I returned the jacket because the sleeves were too long, other then that I do love the gear, kept the gloves and bought a rain hood from my previous jacket, all choice.

I have now worn this jacket in wind and rain and have been pleased - it is certainly rainproof and blocks the wind quite well. The website advised I get a Medium (5'5" 140lbs) but since I've always gotten small jackets, I risked it and went for the Small, which was a good choice for me - I can still layer underneath it and have room to move my arms. The core vents are nice, though I didn't have them open while it was raining, so I didn't test what can get through. When the side/hand pockets are unzipped, the jacket does stick out on the sides in a somewhat unflattering way, however, it's not really much of an issue. The zipper is strong and the hood is roomy enough for a helmet, which means it's also roomy enough to have my hair piled on top of my head, which is better than my last raincoat. I like the reinforced shoulders, as that's frequently where I felt my last raincoat left me feeling wet, even when I wasn't.
I bought the blue Refuge jacket and have had numerous compliments on how nice it looks.

I have worn it a few times in light rain and so far it is fine. I love the neon green color! It is heavier than my previous Burley jacket, which will be good in colder weather. A design suggestion I have: the vent is just in front of the pocket, which is VERY inconvenient, especially when I am trying to zip or unzip the pocket without having to look. I am to the point where I am looking for something distinctive to add to the zipper pulls (which I had to add myself) so I can easily find the pocket zipper. In addition, it seems the the vents would be more useful closer to the armpit, where they were on the old Burley jacket. For the price I feel this part of the design should have been better thought out,.
