Get to know Cross Point waterproof socks
The ancient Greeks invented socks made from matted animal hair in the 8th century BC. Since then, socks have come a long way, significantly improving our ability to stay warm and dry. Showers Pass Cross Point waterproof socks have some of the most technologically advanced premium materials available today to keep your feet warm and dry. Read on to find out the details.
How are Cross Point waterproof socks made? How do they work?
The most crucial feature of our waterproof socks is their unique ability to be waterproof and breathable.
Waterproof socks have three layers: a knit exterior sock, a waterproof membrane, and a knit interior sock. Our premium Artex waterproof membrane is seamless and formed in a 3-D mold, ensuring a comfortable fit with no seam-like ridges. We pressure test each sock to ensure quality. Toe and heel cushioning provide comfortable and long-lasting wear.
Waterproof socks are waterproof from the bottom up, similar to rain boots. To prevent water from entering the top of the socks, wear rain pants or other garments that overlap the top of the socks.
Breathable waterproofing explained
Our premium Artex waterproof membrane is an ultra-thin microporous membrane that stretches while the membrane's pores do not.
This provides reliable, waterproof, and breathable protection so your feet don't overheat during activity.
Materials composition
The outside layer of our waterproof socks uses a durable, low-absorbency nylon blend. Optional Coolmax or Merino Wool blend liners provide lighter-weight moisture-wicking or additional warmth. Waterproof socks are slightly thicker than average athletic socks, but not by much, and the tradeoff of dry feet during activity can be invaluable.
Sock styles and usage recommendations
Waterproof Socks have a wide range of applications! While we initially developed our socks for bicycling, we now offer a range of socks in different weights, heights, materials, and colors, each fine tuned for different footwear and activities.
Heavyweight socks like our Mountain socks are best for hiking, outdoor work, fishing, hunting, and winter sports, and can be used with shoes that accommodate thicker, taller socks.
Lightweight socks are best for closer fitting footwear and actities like running, cycling, golf, climbing, and other sports where a lower-profile shoe is used. Both types of waterproof socks have reinforced toes and heels for durability and comfort.
Sizing information
We offer multiple sizes of waterproof socks for US men's foot sizes 6-15.5 and women's foot sizes 7 – 15. You can find sock size charts here.
Care instructions
Waterproof Socks are easy to care for and clean. Simply machine or hand wash in cold water with a free and clear liquid detergent and hang dry or tumble dry on low heat. After 15 minutes of drying, you can turn them inside out to dry more, making maintenance a breeze.
